DStv SL announces 50% reduction in prices

By ophaniel.gooding@awokonewspaper.sl

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – DStv Sierra Leone has announced a 50% reduction in prices for its bouquets starting from April 19, 2023. The announcement was made by the CEO of Transnational DStv Sierra Leone, Natalia Abboud, at a press conference held at the Country Lodge in Freetown on March 18, 2023.

This price drop is a response to the cry of citizens who have been calling for a reduction in DStv prices in Sierra Leone. According to Abboud, the reduction is part of DStv’s commitment to providing quality entertainment at an affordable price to Sierra Leoneans.

The reduction in prices comes at a time when piracy is a major challenge facing the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone. The Chairman of DStv Sierra Leone, Adonis Abboud, noted that piracy is destroying the business and called on customers to fight against piracy by subscribing to DStv Sierra Leone through Transnational SL Ltd, the legally recognized sole authorized representative of MultiChoice DStv in Sierra Leone.

The reduction in prices is expected to make DStv more affordable to Sierra Leoneans and provide them with more access to their favorite content. The price adjustments are as follows: Premium, which was USD 82.00, will now be USD 52.17; Compact Plus, which was USD 53.00, will now be USD 30.43; Compact, which was USD 25.00, will now be USD 19.13; Family, which was USD 19.00, will now be USD 11.30; and Access, which was USD 12.00, will now be USD 6.09.

The Chairman of DStv Sierra Leone also highlighted the importance of using DStv Sierra Leone through Transnational SL Ltd and renouncing the use of Nigeria decoders, which he said is causing a huge revenue loss to the government. He called on the government to take action to protect indigenous businesses and ensure the growth of the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone.

The Director of Regulatory Administration at the National Telecommunications Commission of Sierra Leone (NaTCA), Smart IB Kokofele, admitted that piracy is a challenge, and efforts are ongoing to stop it and protect local businesses.

The price reduction by DStv Sierra Leone is expected to bring relief to Sierra Leoneans and provide them with more access to quality entertainment. OG/17/3/2023
