A Civil Society Organization, Democracy Sierra Leone (DSL) has welcomed the setting up of a Commission of Enquiry by the Government to probe into the mismanagement of public funds by the previous administration.
In a release issued recently, its states that the people of this Country deserve to know what happened to the many donor funds that were given either by grant or loan.
The release states that,”we expect the Commission and its Commissioners to be as independent and unbiased as they could”, adding that, we also expect patriotic Sierra Leoneans to fully cooperate with the Commission when they are called, rather than use it as a tool to divide the Country.
The release further stated that in the interest of openness and fairness, the Commissioners must hold a fortnightly press conference so that the wider public is kept informed about its work.
It furthered that DSL would be committed to the promotion of good governance through advocacy and related activities which together, are meant for development. It went further that the organization educates and sensitizes the electorate about their rights and responsibilities in state and local governance.
It would be recalled that the Commission was officially opened on Monday at the Miattia conference Hall, were the first witness has already testified.
