Sierra Leone: APC party 2018 flag bearer, Dr Samura Kamara was in Makeni over the weekend where reports say he was endorsed by various party stakeholders to again be the flag bearer for the 2023 elections.

Reports say among those who endorsed Dr Samura Kamara were Members of Parliament, councillors, party affiliated groups, party stalwarts, residents and stakeholders of Makeni city. According to reports from Makeni, APC supporters made it clear that they support Dr Samura as the party’s flag bearer for 2023, because they believe he has the prerequisites and institutional knowledge to give the party a landslide victory come 2023.

A press release from the Samura Kamara Media Team added that Dr Kamara, was elated by the magnitude of love and support the true sons and daughters of the almighty APC gave him, and expressed his profound thanks to former President Ernest Bai Koroma and the people of Makeni for the confidence they bestowed on him.

In Makeni, Samura Kamara dished out his COVID-19 relief package to women and the vulnerable. After leaving Makeni, Dr Samura Kamara and team then headed for Bo, Kenema and Kailahun, where he was received with a hero’s welcome.

In a bid to show that they have made a sharp U-turn, residents of the aforementioned districts, the strongholds of the SLPP party, came out in their hundreds to show and give their unreserved and unrestrained support to Dr Samura Kamara. He ended his Bo visit by dishing out his Covid-19 relief package to the vulnerable, women and children.

In Bo, Dr Samura Kamara observed the Juma prayers in the Fullah Central Mosque, in New Site. After the Juma prayers, he addressed the congregation emphasising the need to maintain peace, the beacon for development. He encouraged the worshippers to be courageous and continue to pray for Sierra Leone because at the moment it is being governed by inexperienced and inefficient politicians whose main intention is to enrich themselves.

After having a rousing welcome in Bo, Dr Samura Kamara went to Kenema where he held meetings with the Kenema District Executive and other affiliated groups like Tagmen, Kalamere, BBSL-S, Samura Babes, and a host of others.

He had a good time in Kenema and gave them the same advice of peace and respect, and later gave his Covid-19 relief package before leaving for Kailahun, where Samura Kamara accompanied Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh and others to witness the burial of Comrade Sheku Tejan Koroma, the former APC District Chairman. His arrival was one that was accepted by all as the mammoth supporters came out to give him a befitting welcome and expressed joy for the visit.

Youth leader Ansu Bernard, Comrade Jajua, Chief Gobeh, and other staunch party stalwarts expressed their thanks to Samura Kamara for visiting their district and vehemently assured him of their fullest support and commitment.

They, however, informed Dr Samura Kamara to inform the party hierarchy to try and mend wounds as the grassroots are not willing to encourage any division and rancour within the party. Comrade Jajua ended by thanking all of them who went to Kailahun and said they were very happy because of the respect they accorded the former party chairman.
