The mortal remains of main Opposition SLPP strongman and flagbearer aspirant for the upcoming Primaries ahead of 2012 General Elections, 61year old International Civil Servant and former Chairman Advisory Board of the Anti Corruption Commission late Dr. Alfred Salia Fawundu who on August 15th 2010 suddenly passed away following a short illness at Choithram Hospital in Freetown was on Sunday August 22nd 2010 buried at Christ the King College Cemetery in Bo after a well attended funeral Ceremony.
Addressing mourners drawn from the diaspora and countrywide who were gathered at a jam packed Bo City Hall former Vice President and SLPP flagbearer for 2007 Presidential Elections Solomon Berewa stormed the Hall days after being pronounced dead by the rumour mill after medical treatment in India. He told the curious listeners that no one can predict the death of another person except God the almighty and that he was hail and fit in India while he was declared dead by the rumour mongers.
The former Presidential Candidate told all that the SLPP is stronger than before and that the Party stands better chances of winning the much looked forward to 2012 Elections as the rank and file are busy putting the pieces together.
He referred to the late man as indeed a righteous man and that the Heavens awaits him as is the case with all good people noting that the wicked cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
Giving his tribute National Chairman of SLPP John Benjamin equally lavished praiseful adjectives on late Dr Fawundu and further encouraged the entire SLPP family to use the virtues of the late political heavyweight for the forward match to State House come sharp 12 o clock in an Election free of the practice involving vote voiding which he stated characterized the last presidential Election being decided in favour of the ruling APC Government.
Similarly the former SLPP National Chairman and erstwhile Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Sama Banya described the late Dr Fawundu as an excellent and true son of a Royal family born to late PC Musa Fawundu of Mano Sakrim in the Pujehun District, now replaced by her elder sister Edna Fawundu as the resident Paramount Chief, mother, PC Haja Hawa Koroma while the one year old elected Paramount Chief of Gbo Chiefdom, Bo District PC Ruth Tutu Fawundu is the widow of the late Dr. Fawundu. In their tributes the UNDP Country Representative, Acting Commissioner Anti Corruption Commission, Buya Kamara, Representative of OBBA, family member, John Kallon all referred to the late Dr Fawundu as a sharp weapon that needs no additional shaping while others described him as a double academic giant and a fine Diplomatic who served in various Countries in the United Nation circle around the world with an excellent record to the admiration of most.
