Ahmadiyya Muslim Primary school teacher Momoh Pujeh of Gbalahun town in the Luawa chiefdom Kailahun district was last Friday struck dead by double bolts of lightning while sheltering from heavy rains.
Speaking to Karmoh Bockarie Brima by phone from Papayema village Gbelah section in Luawa chiefdom he explained that it was on Friday 25th September 2009 at about 2pm when the clouds became dark and it started raining, causing people to run helter skelter for shelter.
Five young men including the deceased entered a business kiosk that is at the center of the town on the main road leading to Koindu town on the Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea border.
All the five men were standing in the kiosk with the deceased at the center waiting for the rain to cease, when heavy lightning flashed three times followed by thunder. The teacher who was standing in the middle of his colleagues shouted that something had touched his arm and he fell down. As his colleagues bowed down to help him another blaze of lightning and thunder struck again and entered the kiosk this time giving cause to the four men to take to their heels. The rain then ceased and when people came to the place Pujeh was found dead in the kiosk.
Pujeh is a married man with three children and two wives Feimata and Massah. He has since been buried but the incident is talk of the Kailahun district. Some people say that such an incident happens when thunder is being directed to an individual by some supernatural means and it will only affect the person that it is directed at. There are still doubts as to whether the incident can be explained by black magic or natural occurrence.
