The Division One league starts today at the National Stadium in Freetown with
Belvic United and RSLAF FC slugging it out, while SLFA’s president Nahim Kadi is expected to take the kick-off to declare the competition open. Belvic United’s manager, Victor Lewis, said their chances of winning today’s match were very great as they had prepared well.
He mentioned that they had a lot of talented players who could produce results in every match, noting that though their opponents RSLAF were very strong they lacked endurance.
Victor Lewis stated that, “Belvic United has been in operation for the past 13 years and being in Division II for the past 12 years,” adding that he took over last year and promoted the team to Division One and was now planning to promote it to the premier league.
The team’s head coach, Abubakarr Kanu (Bang time), noted that his players were now prepared for today’s encounter and that they would defeat their opponents. He also promised to promote Belvic United to the premier league.
The competition continues tomorrow with Sierra Leone Police and Kissy All Stars fighting it out at the Football Academy.
