The population in the Southern City of Bo might be nearly a million (1.000.000) but only about two thousand (2000) have access to safe drinking water. This was affirmed by the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) Regional Manager South, Junisa Fofanah.
The pipe-borne water which is a new invention in Bo is limited to only few people in the center of the City, implying that others within the township go without it.
Bo #2 with almost half of the population in the City is without pipes let alone safe drinking water. This, the Manager said, may be due to many factors; and these include lack of funds and leakages.
The incidence of leakages is becoming a cause for concern; but repairs are on-going in various areas. As a means of increasing the number of consumers in the City, the manager stated that “systematic repairs in other affected areas should be a matter of priority.”
