The Chair of the National Commission for Persons with Disability, James T. Cullen, said part of the Commission’s plan is to ensure people living with disabilities are off the streets and put an end to all forms of provocation by members of the public. Cullen said the Disability Act is repositioning them in society. The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Saa Lamin Kortequee, said they have been recording increased numbers of death of their colleagues because most of them where living on their streets. He said the Le13.5 million came from the Government to assist disabled groups in Western Area. The President of Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues (SLUDI), Santigie Kargbo, said he hopes other groups of people living with disabilities can benefit from the rain gear.
