The Director of Sports Bai Kabia is in the process of taming members of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), whom he accused of been very wayward with no structure and also the fact that there is no accountability within the association.
He accused the association of working in isolation over the years, with the former Director always dancing to the tune of the Secretariat; leading to the over-budgeting of air tickets for invited players.
In the budget which was sent to the Director of Sports Bai Kabia by the SLFA Secretariat, the amount budgeted for air tickets for foreign-based players for the match against the Super Eagles was about 40 thousand dollars. When the Sports Ministry contacted the Travel Agency the prices were reduced to half the amount budgeted.
This did not go down well with the SLFA Secretariat; as such they had decided to stay away from the arrangement of tickets and accommodation for the players in Nigeria, all of which had been taken care of by the Ministry.
In another development, a twelve-man delegation is expected to depart the shores of Freetown on Tuesday 7th October for the encounter with the Super Eagles.
The delegation comprises of the Deputy-Minister (2) Dr Nyallay as leader of the delegation, Alphan Coker, Deputy Director of Sports, Alie Kargbo, Second Vice President SLFA, Unisa Deen Kargbo, PRO Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, Ahmed Kanu Head Coach, Obi Metzger Technical Director, Rashid Kabia Team Doctor and about five home-base players; Christian Caulker, Osman Tommy, Mamadu Bah and Alpha Lansana.
