As Companies and Individuals have failed to come to the aid of the Association, with just three days for the team to depart for Burkina Faso, the Director of Sports Bai Kabia has decided to come to the rescue by ensuring that half the amount requested by the Association is given to them by the Sports Ministry.
The President of the Association, Winston Crowther noted that had it not been for the timely intervention of the Director of Sports and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry the National team would have found it difficult to compete in the biggest cycling competition in Africa, slated for this month
He mentioned that the cyclists have been longing to take part in this competition and they have been under going intensive training to the effect; and that if they had failed to make it to the competition, it would have dampened their moral.
He disclosed that the team is expected to depart the shore of Freetown for the competition over the weekend.
