The Director of Sports Bai Kabia has appointed Desk Officers following the outcome of several staff meetings and in consultation with the executives of National Associations to liaise between the national Sports Council and the National Associations.
They have been given terms of reference and the Director disclosed that all inquiries must be channeled through the Desk officers verbally or written and these desk officers will also direct and advice the association on all matters affecting the conduct of that discipline. He warned that they must be au fait with the rules of engagement, discuss program activities program and all correspondences relating to their participation in international events.
The Desk Officers must also inform associations about the financial policies and funding for the competition at home or away. They must also brief the Director or Deputy Director on all matters relating to that Association on a bi-weekly basis and forward a report. All disputes must first be handled by the desk officer and a report forwarded to the Director’s Office for further action if necessary. Also, no Desk Officers is allowed to make policy pronouncement to the media without first seeking the necessary clearance from the Director.
The Director will no longer deal with Associations unless necessitated by a reasonable request from the Desk officers, and all financial requests must be fully backed with necessary documentation and must be followed by a statement of expenditure after each activity.
