Accra, Ghana – On the 16th of October 2023, Her Excellency Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD, celebrated her five-year anniversary as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Ghana, while concurrently serving as a non-resident Ambassador to Togo and Burkina Faso. Throughout this period, High Commissioner Anderson has exhibited exceptional leadership in the diplomatic arena of Ghana, ardently promoting the President’s agenda to present Sierra Leone in a positive light to the world.
In her multifaceted role, Mrs Anderson has engaged in critical discussions on mutual interests such as security, treaty negotiations, and regional trade. Her tenure has been a profound learning and implementation experience, representing her nation across three ECOWAS countries and mediating on vital regional issues. Her interaction with 18 other diplomats concurrently accredited to Sierra Leone has shed light on the country in foreign capitals where it was previously lesser-known.
In 2019, High Commissioner Mrs Anderson organized a successful investment seminar, the reverberations of which continue to enhance Sierra Leone’s presence and participation in Ghana. Beyond her diplomatic role, she is a devoted wife and mother who attributes her strength and timing to a deep faith in God.
Reflecting on her relationship with her staff, High Commissioner Anderson emphasizes the importance of teamwork and strives to fulfill the President’s agenda, acknowledging the challenges of balancing competing interests.
Her Excellency Francess Virginia Anderson has also maintained cordial and professional relations with fellow Heads of Missions in Accra, representing various nations. She served as the Financial Secretary of the African Group of Ambassadors from 2019 to 2022.
Looking ahead, High Commissioner Anderson has pledged to work diligently with the team at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Accra and with partners to secure substantial support for President Bio’s BIG FIVE AGENDA, further advancing Sierra Leone’s activities in Ghana in the years to come.
