Diamond Stars top Premier League

Diamond Stars of Kono past Friday came very strong to lead the Premier league table after thrashing Central Parade by four goals to one (4-1) at the National Stadium in Freetown. The victory puts the team 12 points ahead on the table.
Coach of Diamond Stars, Lamin Bangura said his team was prepared and determined to win the match, which was why they were very offensive throughout the match looking for goals. He said the morale of the team is now very high to maintain their winning spree against Kamboi Eagles on Friday, February 17 2012.
On the same day in Tongo Field in Kenema, Gem Stars registered their first winning by defeating Wusum Stars of Makeni by a goal to nil to secure their first three vital points from 4 matches played so far.
On Saturday, Old Edwardians continue in their good form to break the undefeatable record of Kissy All Stars in the league when they defeated them by a goal to nil the only goal of the match scored in the first half of play by Hassan Koroma aka Milla. Old Edwardians now have 7 points from 5 matches. Their next match will be against the Gem Stars at the National Stadium.
He told Awoko Sports that he felt proud and happy as it marks the team’s first goal in the league from three matches. He said he determined to score more goals in the coming matches if he is given more playing time.
Also on Sunday, FC Johansen and FC Kallon played to a goalless draw after a fierce 90 minutes of tension packed encounter.
FC Kallon Coach, Charlie Wright said that he is not happy with the result because the result did not reflect his early plan to secure all three points. FC Kallon now has 11 points, second behind Diamond Stars of Kono.
The league will continue on Wednesday, February 15th with East End Lions hosting Kissy All Stars at the National Stadium in Freetown.
