Deputy Minister of Information, Mohamed Koroma in a very strong worded message disclosed that, the transmission house at Leicester Peak had been under construction since 1963 but still remains unfinished.
He stated that if the government transmission house could not be finished to reflect modern technological advancement, it should be demolished.
The Minister lambasted that all the mobile companies in the Country have their transmitters in that dilapidated building, but are doing nothing to improve it; adding that all they are concerned about is to make huge profits. What most people view as an irony, was when the Minister tagged the transmission house as ‘an eye sore’; immediately after telling journalists of some of the strides his Ministry had made to improve information flow.
Mohamed Koroma was highlighting the visit of members of the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication to the gateway at Wilberforce, the National Telecommunication Commission and the transmission house at Leicester Peak, to enable them get first hand information on those facilities.
He said that the transmission house is in bad shape, as the building remains unfinished.
