Monrovia, LIBERIA, December 29, 2023 – The Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to Liberia, Jonathan Saffa has on behalf of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Monrovia extended a heartfelt gesture to Sierra Leonean inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The inmates received an array of essential items, including assorted food items and sanitary materials, aimed at enhancing their living conditions during their time of incarceration.
The Deputy Ambassador, Jonathan Saffa conveyed warm greetings and reassurances to the inmates. He emphasized the continuous support from their home country and highlighted ongoing efforts to explore the potential release of individuals convicted on minor offenses. The embassy reiterated its dedication to assisting those in need, both at home and abroad.
Deputy Superintendent of the Prison Administration, Joel J. G Juah, expressed gratitude for the Embassy’s benevolence. He commended the support extended to the 25 Sierra Leonean inmates and pledged to communicate the Embassy’s donation to relevant authorities. Juah underscored the significance of such contributions in improving the well-being of incarcerated individuals.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow prisoners, one of the inmates expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Embassy’s generosity while appealing for intervention in their release from prison.
The presentation of these essential items was conducted by Deputy Ambassador Jonathan Saffa, Head of Chancery Sia A. Tejan, and Community Liaison Officer Mohamed A.S. Wai. The Embassy’s outreach serves as a testament to Sierra Leone’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens abroad, fostering a sense of unity and support even in challenging circumstances.
