Proprietress of Ausco enterprises Zainab Cole located at Government Wharf in Freetown has expressed dissatisfaction with the way she had been treated by the
management of the National Power Authority (NPA). Explaining to Awoko at her business place on Monday 7th Mrs. Cole said that on Friday at about 11:30 her prepaid meter in her business place caught fire leaving her food items to spoil.
She further explained that, when the incident occurred, she called for a technician from NPA to check and see the cause of the problem.
Mrs Cole confirmed that the technician came he inspect the meter and gave temporary electricity to her place and that the technician assured her that he will report to the head of prepaid meters Mr. Abu Mansaray.
The proprietress narrated that Mr. Mansaray came to the scene; he took off the meter and guaranteed her that he will investigate the cause of the problem and promise to reconnect her again.
She disclosed that she asked that she be given temporary electricity but that she was told to pay Le 200, 000 for the meter.
Mrs. Cole stated that “since that day I had no electricity” and that she had to throw away some of her food items.
“I pay my bills regularly and spend Le 150,000 a week on prepaid meter.”
