The first trial for the Sierra Leone Cricket U-19 competition will start today at the cricket oval at Kingtom.
Speaking to Awoko sports about the trial the Public Relations Officer of the association Alieu Bockarie said that the trial is organised by the association which was to select players who were expected to represent Sierra Leone in the U-19 cricket competitions in Morocco.
According to Alieu, yesterday the executive received a telephone call from Kassim Sulaiman chief executive of the African Cricket Association (ACA) informing them that the Sierra Leone U-19 cricket team has been elevated to the World Cup qualification in Mozambique due to their output in previous international competitions.
He also mentioned that players who will be selected to make the trip will be selected on their performances not by sentiment as they want to present the best team in the country.
Alieu also disclosed that 24 players have been selected to take part in the trials and these players have been divided into two groups.
In group A we have players like Emmanuel Pessima, Senneh Kamara, Mohamed Alie Bangura, Balowa Mansaray, Jacob Mansaray, Alfred Charley, Ibrahim Kabia, Adolphus Massaquoi, Issa James, Edward Senessie, Onesimus Bull and Sulaiman Tarawally
In group B, we have players like Musa Ganda, Ibrahim Mansaray, Julius Quee, Abubakarr Kamara, Osman Koroma, Abass Gbla, Alhaji Koroma, Brima Ansumana, Bami Williams, Erick Williams, Edward Marrah and James Mansaray
