Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) Board, under the leadership of Francis Samura, has appointed coaches and team managers for various national cricket teams. The recent appointments aim to strengthen the leadership and coaching structure within the cricket community in Sierra Leone.
Abass Gbla, an active player on the senior side, has been appointed as the head coach of the Sierra Leone U-19 Men’s Cricket Team, also known as the Junior Patriots of Sierra Leone. Gbla expressed gratitude for the appointment, emphasizing his previous experience as an assistant coach for the U-19 team. He believes that with focused attention to certain areas, the team can meet expectations. Gbla, who started playing cricket at the age of 7, has a rich background in the sport, contributing as a player and coach at various levels.
Other appointments include Abu Best Kamara as the Team Manager for the U-19 Men’s Cricket Team, Mohamed Pagal Mansaray as the Head Coach for the U-19 Women’s Cricket Team (Junior Ladies Patriots of Sierra Leone), Alie John Kamara as the Assistant Head Coach 1 for the Senior Men’s Cricket Team (Patriots of Sierra Leone), Mohamed Boys Kamara as the Assistant Coach 2 for the Senior Men’s Cricket Team (Patriots of Sierra Leone), Serry Billy Turay as the Team Manager for the Senior Men’s Cricket Team, Sinneh Kamara as the Coach for the Senior Female Cricket Team (Ladies Patriots), David Nelson Williams as the Team Manager for the Senior Women’s Cricket Team (Ladies Patriots of Sierra Leone), and Sunkarie Koroma as the Matron for the U-19 Female Cricket Team (Junior Ladies Patriots of Sierra Leone).
