The present Executive of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) whose term of office expired November last year has officially announced a date for the next elective congress which has been slated for 24th March 2012 at the Stadium hostel.
This disclosure was made to the press by the assistant Secretary General of the association Francis Samura. He stated that before the elective congress they are going to look at the draft constitution that has been prepared by the executive on the 3rd of March 2012, and after the ratification, 21 days later; they will be going to the polls to elect a new executive that will run the association for the next four years.
Also in another development the executive is expecting to organize the second phase of coaching clinic in Bo town involving five secondary schools for both male and female.
According to the Coordinator, Francis Samura who also doubles as the Assistant Secretary General of the Association the second phase of the course will end with matches among the schools for both male and female categories.
He also revealed that at the end of the match trophies and certificates will be awarded to schools and individuals who merit them as the phase is going to be an introduction to the Cricket game.
Francis Samura also disclosed that from Bo they will be moving to Makeni and Kenema in due course to organize such coaching programmes.
Francis said that, the essence of the training is to spread the game to the provinces as they want to make sure that the game is played in every part of the country.
