Magistrate Bankole Shyllon of the Freetown Court No3 yesterday fined eight (8) Collegiate pupils the sum of Le 60,000 each for riotous conduct.
The eight (8) pupils are: Kalawa Koroma, Unisa Sesay, Osman Bangura, Abubakarr Kamara, Emmanuel Johnson, Saffa Brima, Sawila Kanu, and Bockarie Bangalie who were arrested at the National Stadium on the 28 November 2008 for riotous conduct. All pleaded guilty of the charges.
Applying for clemency on behalf of the accused persons, Lawyer Nylandar said the pupils have realized their mistakes and learnt their lessons after their four days detention.
He pleaded on their behalf that they would never do such things again and therefore asked the court to temper justice with mercy.
Magistrate Shyllon noted that School going pupils of today fight with knife, hammer and stones; which he said has led to the degrading educational system in the Country.
Magistrate Shyllon warned that hooligans would be sentenced, as they are a threat to society.
He thus fined the pupils Le60, 000 each.
