The Technical Director of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Sam Obi Metzger Snr. has disclosed to the press that the a ‘B’ licenses coaching course will start for coaches in Sierra Leone next Tuesday, February 7th 2012 at the Football Academy at Kingtom.
The Technical Director also revealed that the course is targeting 40 active coaches who are attached to clubs and have completed the C coaching licenses. Mr. Metzger said registration is currently on and will last for 21 days. He stated that the planned C coaching course would be followed by a ‘B’ coaching course which is a senior course and would target coaches who have practiced for 15 years without licenses.
The Technical Director however cautioned that only coaches that are active would be accommodated in the respective courses, whilst he encouraged all senior coaches who are yet to be licensed to be part of the B licenses equivalent course, noting that CAF/FIFA are currently insistent on coaches that are licensed to handle their matches.
He said: “We will stand by the rules and regulations which state that only coaches who are engaged in active coaching at club, community or school levels and have completed the ‘C’ license would be admitted,” he warned.
For the ‘B’ licenses Equivalent Course, he also informed, CAF would have to approve all those who would have to be part of that course as there will be no examination. He said CAF officials are expected in Freetown three days to the end of the upcoming course to conduct the admission examination.
