Our politicians over the years are of the habit of taking God and the people of Sierra Leone for granted. They swear, using the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran, to rule with integrity, do wrong to all manners of people and in all things, choose self before national interest.
When the dust settles, they however turn around to put their interest first, and the results of which majority of the people continue to wallow in poverty.
These politicians shamelessly visit the Churches and Mosques, to display how religiously they are, only to turn around and betray the Supreme Being. Holy month of Ramadan has started and they will dressed in the finest attire, put on a face as holy as Virgin Mary, but during this period, they will be striking all kinds of corrupt deals to enrich themselves regardless of the Holy month.
They continue to play the religious card, even when they have been exposed for their heinous crimes committed against the masses who entrusted the governance of this land into their care. This they do without shame.
Even though in the past we have seen how many mighty men and women have fallen when caught, they still don’t care. Well the ACC looks to be biting, but will the real predators be caught as the commissioner was appointed by them, only time will tell.
Over the years, previous government have legitimize corruption by returning seized assets back to their owners, so they too knew someday if their assets are seized they will get it back.
We’ve seen many politicians and civil servants in the past turning to God when their crimes caught up with them. They attend Sunday services, prayer meetings, fasting and praying. That’s the time they turn to God.
But when all was well, did they consult the Holy Spirit or did the Holy Spirit tell them to do such bad things; no they did it without any regard for God, they did it without thinking of the oath they took with the Bible or Quran.
Every Friday and Sunday, these leaders are being prayed for in the Churches and Mosques for God Almighty to give them wisdom to govern the people. Even in crusades and other prayer meetings they will vigorously pray for our leaders, but it seems the more they pray for them the more suffering they heap on the populace.
It is high time; these politicians leave God to attend to the needs of its beloved children, the poor Sierra Leone who lives in deprived areas, those in ramshackle structures, those on sick beds at hospitals that need proper healthcare.
The Holy Bible is warning such politicians: Thy Shall Not take Thy Name of Thy God In Vain. I want them to know that God is not blind, He sees everything, hears everything and at the fullness of time, He will act.
We the disadvantaged children will continue to pray for them, we will not relent, because we know that he answers to our prayers. He watches over us day and night and will never leave us no forsake us because He is a God that cares for His children.
But as for our leaders, the time of reckoning will come when they will start crying out for God to come to their rescue, but it will be too late. The name of our God is precious and should not be taken for granted.
