In the Central One Football Association (COFA) U-14 league at the Parade Grounds 73 goals have been scored in the first phase of the competition out of 40 matches played.
The competition started with 20 teams and these teams were divided into four groups and at the end of the first rounds 12 teams have progressed to the knockout stage of the competition.
Out of the five teams in each group only three teams will qualify for the knockout stage. In group ‘A’ Sierra Rangers, FC Pizzo both of them have 7 points each and Balletonians with 6 points to qualify.
In group ‘B’ we have Luke farm FC who leads the group with 8 points, SLIFA and Africell FC who also qualify with 7 points each
In group ‘C’ leading the group to qualify is Kissy U-14 with 9 points to their credit. In second place in the group is FC Logus with 7 points and Boston FC with 6 points.
The first to qualify in Group D is Sannoh FC with 10 points while FC Bureh and Same Face qualify with 6 points each.
Speaking to Awoko Sports the Secretary General of the Association Philipson Cline Cole said that the second phase of the competition will start next Wednesday with the 12 team’s on knockout basis and the two best loser will join the 6 teams to the quarter final stage of the competition.
He went further that before the knockout stage start they are going to hold a meeting with the club representative to brief them about how the knockout stage will look like, so that they too will make their input.
He also disclosed that there will be an inter-area league going alongside the U-14 knockout stage and the inter-area competition is wide open and they have received about 13 application and they are targeting about 20 teams and this team will be put into a group of three or four each to make the competition more healthier.
