The founder of the female league in the country, coach Hassan Turay in an interview with Awoko, disclosed that certain factors were responsible for the unsatisfactory state of football in the country.
He said he had been in the game of football for many years, and that insufficient interest had not been shown towards improving the game.
Coach Hassan suggested that there was now an urgent need for competent sports administrators with very sound academic standings to propel the game.
“Some of these administrators must participate in oversea courses and lectures before being recruited into our sports organizations,” he noted adding that “we need to organize a well structured league at all categories and we must have a well structured Sierra Leone Football Association where all the committees will be functioning.”
He also noted that well planned talent spotting competitions for all levels should also be organized throughout the country. And that the purposes of these competitions should be to produce as many talents as possible to feed clubs at different levels.
