Coach Hassan Bongo says FCFC is eying 2021 Premier League title
Sierra Leone, Makeni: The Head Coach of Sierra Leone Premier League side Freetown City Football Club Hassan Bongo Kamara on Friday, 2nd September, 2021 told Awoko that his side is in high gear to compete and win the 2021 men’s elite league title.
Kamara said he is so far impressed with his players performance since returning from a brief season break and resumed training on August 16, 2021, adding that in the last two weeks of intense trainings they have also engaged in friendly matches against several football clubs including Premier League and non-division clubs and the results were very encouraging especially their 2-1 win over former league champions Mighty Blackpool.
“We are in very high spirits to compete for the title this season as we get back to Premier League action on 11th September, 2021 against SLIFA Mount Aureole FC, a side that we will not hesitate to defeat, to send a warning signal to other league opponents about our FCFC operation three point’s agenda.”
Coach Hassan Bongo further stated that the team is not bothered about the departure of their former Head coach Francis Zappa Koroma, whom himself and other members of FCFC technical staff enjoyed working with. “We wish him well and we know our fans have developed huge confidence in us and we will not let them down as we are very determined to compete in high gears and continue to maintain our prowess we have built on thirteen (13) years on to have appeared and competed heavily in the national elite championship since 2009.
Freetown City Football Club is currently in ninth position with 12 points after eight games played (won 3, drew 3 and lost 2) in the halted Sierra Leone Premier League that will resume on September 11, 2021. ARW/6/9/2021
