The head coach of the U-17 national team, Christian Cole, yesterday at the Football Academy told Awoko Sports that his boys were undergoing intensive training at the academy at Kingtom.
He noted that currently they had about 28 players and that out of these only 19 would be selected for their encounter against Liberia in Monrovia slated for April 12.
The coach noted that his team was expected in camp early next week and mentioned that to select the 28 players it was not an easy task as he had over 60 that were invited for training.
He said the selection of the players was done on merit and also revealed that they would embark on friendlies with Kallon FC and Belvic United this week at the Football Academy.
In another development, Mohamed Kanu has been appointed the national coach for Leone Stars with Obi Metzger as technical director to take care of the team for the Nations Cup and World Cup 2010 qualifications.
