The head coach of Blackpool, Christian Cole who also doubles as Vice president of the coaches’ association, may take over the U-17 national team.
The team will engage their Liberian opponents in the youth competition in Liberia next month in the first round of the competition.
Coach Cole, one of Sierra Leone’s talented coaches with a lot of experience, may be able to steer the ship of the U-17 to eliminate their Liberian counterparts.
In another development, the issue of a foreign coach for the national team is on floor as the ministry of Education Youth and Sports and Sports Council are currently on working on it.
The director of sports, Saidu Mansaray, said they were exploring their sports bilateral relationship with different embassies to secure a coach. He mentioned that he had written series of letters to theses embassies asking them to assist them with a coach for the national team.
The acting coach, Ahmed Kanu, is out of the country in search of Sierra Leonean players playing aboard. But he has been criticized by many football stakeholders who say there are more qualified coaches in the country than him.
