Sallieu Bundu who plys his trade in the USA Major league second division league with Cleveland City Stars in the United States is presently in town to play his first international match for Leone Stars against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.
Sallieu Bundu’s inclusion into the national team has been deemed as very important at this time as he will play the role of Kei Kamara who was very instrumental in the national team.
Kei misses the Equatorial Guinea match because of a one match ban after having received two straight yellow cards from two matches.
When Awoko caught up with the Leone Stars new comer yesterday at the national stadium, Bundu said he was determined to perform his task on Saturday as he hopes to give the national team some hope in qualifying for the next stage of the competition. “That is the dream of every player of the team to see his team qualify to the next stage”.
Sallieu Bundu is one of the key players of his team and is currently the highest goal scorer and the second highest goal scorer in the league.
In another development about 9 Leone Stars players were supposed to have jetted in yesterday for preparations against their encounter with Equatorial Guinea. The players invited are Kewullay Conteh from Italy, Warren Kanu from Cyprus, Ahmed Deen England, Ibrahim Kargbo Holland, Sheriff Sumah Sweden, Albert Cole, Obi Metgzer Junior, Umaru Bangura, and Paul Kpaka. Mustapha Bangura(Hadji) is expected to arrive today.
During the start of the competition Leone Stars lost their first match against Equatorial Guinea by two goals to nil in an away encounter which is more the reason that Leone Stars are determined to win their return leg which will boost their chance of qualifying.
