A 12 year old Class six pupil narrowly escaped death in a House that caught fire at 1, Jeneba Layout, Dauda Town, Kenema City.
The house was occupied by Madam Jeneba Keifala Headmistress of Whoeling Nursery.
Fire engulfed the house on Friday morning 6th January 2012 at around 9:30am.
Madam Jeneba Keifala was out of Kenema City busy in Kailahun District attending a funeral service of her dear relative when the incident occurred.
According to a 12 year old class 6 pupil Haja Fanta Sesay, explained that her uncle Sylvester Keifala left her at home and went across a swamp near their house.
She said she later went and collected fire wood which she deposited at the parlour and went in search of the iron which she did not locate.
Haja Fanta Sesay said she then went out and sat at the veranda leaving the fire at the parlour and engaged herself in removing the artificial hair from her head.
During the process she heard a loud noise at the parlour and rushed to open the main door and saw the house on fire.
She said she rushed into her room and took her bag out and continued to shout for help.
Neighbours rushed to the scene to put out the inferno but to no avail.
The entire house was burnt down with several properties worth millions of Leones including the generator that was in the parlour.
Police at the Kenema division are currently investigating the fire incident. This is the second fire disaster in the same week in Kenema City.
