With high determination and pliability to explore his business venture, the CEO of Sam-King Group of Companies, Wilfred Sam-King, has entered into partnership agreement with Christie Companies, a real estate foreign development company to re-develop the Taia Resort and the Leone Lodge projects in Sierra Leone.
This laud business enterprise also attracts the involvement, through discussion, of other engineering companies such as the Overseas Private Investment Corporation; an investment body of the United States government, as well as a Chinese Construction Company to ginger the activities surrounding the investment.
At a reception held at the Taia Resort Hotel on Monday in honour of the guest from Christie Companies, Sam-King in a statement said that his company is in discussion with all of the aforementioned companies to form a partnership arrangement to revitalize the Taia Resort and the Leone Lodge, situated at five locations around the country: Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Rogbere and Taiama.
He said that all things being equal, the project is expected, after due negotiation and procedures, to start one month from now.
Procedures, he said, include accessing finances required, plans to determine the management strategy of the projects which involves shareholding, and a whole garmot of issues that determine the success of the project.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Richard Conteh, reiterated that government is poised to ensure the creation of an enabling environment to do business in the country.
He said a project of this nature; particularly when it has a flavour of improving the private sector in Sierra Leone, is quite a laudable enterprise.
He noted that plans are underway to host in a shortest possible time, a large investment forum in the country where local investment bodies will be opportuned to interact with foreign investors and representatives of large business companies around the world.
‘This will enable our indigenous industries to establish themselves with other international bodies and even locally based business organizations to enhance a collective business growth in Sierra Leone,’ he said.
However, the venture is geared towards improving the tourism sector, especially when the country at the moment is still grappling with its tourism industry.
It was viewed that the initiative will provide employment opportunity for Sierra Leonean population and develops the private sector institution where much emphasis is being laid by the government in its quest to put Sierra Leone’s businesses on a firm footing.
Just about two weeks ago when Sam-King was entering into another partnership agreement with Cannon Incorporated, he revealed in a statement that the investment cost of the Leone Lodge Project amounts to11 million dollars, and as such the management is looking for potential partnership in a form of development and related interest to realize the intention of the project.
The Christie Companies are a mixed-use urban development company based in New York; USA, aimed at revitalizing urban communities, improves education through infrastructural development in schools and universities in Africa and the world at large.
Although Christie Companies has been operating in Africa over the years, this is however the first agreement the companies has entered into with a Sierra Leonean based investment company, poised to promote infrastructure through tourism with Sam-King Group of Companies
