Sierra Leone: Chinese national Chi Shu Liaug was in court after police alleged that he wounded Zaung Hang and Tang Lei with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm.
Chi was on Tuesday 30th March 2021 arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Pademba Road in a preliminary investigation into the wounding allegation.
The accused was before Magistrate Ngegba on six counts of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, all contrary to law
According to the indictment, Chi on Sunday 31st January 2021 at Murray Town, Freetown maliciously wounded Zaung and Tang with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm.
The indictment also stated that the accused on the same day and place assaulted both complainants in a manner occasioning them actual bodily harm.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned, prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray requested for an adjournment after he disclosed that the victims and witnesses have travelled to China for treatment because of the severity of their wounds.
Magistrate Ngegba denied Chi bail and instead remanded him at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, before adjourning the matter to 6th April 2021. SKS/1/04/2021
