The Prime Minister of China Wen Jiabao on 14th August opened the 3rd China Africa Youth Festival at the Great Hall in Beijing City. The Festival is organised by the All- China Youth Federation and attracted over 200 youths from different African countries.
In his address, Jiabao said that it is a festival for all Chinese and African people.
He added that China and Africa had a good relationship for a long time and hoped that it will continue.
The Premier maintained that the help China is extending to Young Africans is of necessity to them.
Speaking on behalf of the African delegates the Togolese Ambassador to China thanked the Chinese government for the assistance they have been rendering to Africa.
He said for long years China has been sending Chinese workers in Africa to help in development programmes.
The Ambassador said that this exchange will go a long way in strengthening the relationship between Africa and China, adding that this has brought mutual understanding between the two.
Earlier on the delegates visited the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the Minister and Vice Minister addressed them.
This was followed by a call at the Ministry of Commerce where the Vice Minister briefed the delegation.
The delegation has visited the ZTE Coporation, the Sino hydro, the Beijing Olympic Venues, sightseeing on the Great Wall and watched acrobatics show at Chaoyang Theatre.
They have also toured the Forbidden City and now in Jilin in the Changchun Province.
The group will also visit China’s modern Agriculture program, the Fengman hydro electric plant, a cruise tour on the Song Hua Lake, visit to China’s First Automobile Works Group Corporation and also a visit to The Puppet Manchurian Palace.
On the 19th they will meet with Provincial leaders, visit Dong Zhan Shi Wei Community, Changchan World Sculpture Park and visit Jilin Handcraft Product.
