The new Chinese Ambassador Mr. Qui Shaofang has spoken about his government’s commitment to complete the aid projects in the country, while at the same time cherished the traditional friendship.
Speaking at the reception to mark his credentials and the successful completion of the Beijing Olympic Games, Ambassador Shaofang stated that the Chinese government will keep its commitment to complete the aid projects in Sierra Leone such as the office building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, two schools, the Bo Stadium and the Freetown hospital.
Ambassador Shaofang, who is coming in from South Africa, stated that, “I feel a big change of working and living environment from a developed country to a post conflict country,” opining that, “Sierra Leone is suffering a lot of poverty at the lowest level in the international community in terms of development.’
He however observed, “But my first impression of Sierra Leone is that she is naturally beautiful and has abundant resources,” adding that he is confident that the country is promising to have a better future under President Koroma’s leadership and the collective efforts of Sierra Leoneans.
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the Olympic Games, he stated, “I want to extend thanks to the Sierra Leonean government and people for your precious support to the Chinese government and people to host a successful and distinctive Olympic Games.”
He went on, “I hope that in the near future and with the development of economy and social welfare, Sierra Leone will become stronger in sports and send more qualified athletes to compete in the Olympic arenas.”
