The education officer at the Chimpanzee Conservation in Kenema, Bintu Keifala, has said in order to widen their community sensitization on the protection of chimpanzees and other endangered species they are now involving teachers and children in their sensitization drive.
Already staff and students of ten secondary schools in Kenema have been involved in the sensitization exercise by the setting up nature clubs, she noted.
Ms. Bintu Keifala stressed that, “the staff and students of the ten schools are our agents in the community to tell their communities that any baboon found should be reported to our office.”
Explaining further how they had been reaching the community, she said their office “shows films to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to sensitize the communities on how to protect chimps.
