Child Fund is a newly branded Non Governmental Organization (N.G.O.) known before as Christian Children Fund embarked on the empowerment of children and youths in the Interior. Child Fund is working in partnership with community based organizations, Civil Society and other N.G.O’s
Speaking to journalist at the organization headquarter at Hill Station, the National Director Mr. Daniel E. Kaindaneh said the organization is currently in operation at Koinadugu, Bombali, Bo and Moyamba District.
Mr. Kaindaneh stated that his organization’s focus is to ensure healthy and secured infant, educated and confident childhood and skilled youth. He stated that the healthy growth of the child is vital for national development especially for the middle level manpower.
He pointed out that Child Fund currently provide quality education to upgrade children who are less privileged to be useful in society and skilled training on agriculture and baking for youth. He further disclosed that they provide agricultural equipment and seedling for youth to plant and after harvest they return the seedling input, which is redistributed to other youth.
Adult literacy programme is also used to capacitate youth, especially on the area of civic education which enlighten the youth about their civic political right and obligation, this has made the youth to contribute in influencing policies through dialogue with their Chiefs, Councilors, M.P. and other authorities, as Koinadugu district council has women representative.
However, Mr. Kaindaneh stated that his organization has problems with fund, which limit them to expand their activities in other areas like Port Loko, Kambia and in some instances his staff face resistance or embarrassment from the communities when trying to implement certain programmes especially S.G.B.V. He stated that his organization will continue to develop child and youth in Sierra Leone
