The newly elected chairman of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party, John Benjamin has disclosed to Journalists that Charles Margai was on his way back to the SLPP.
John Benjamin was having his first Press conference yesterday at the SLPP headquarters where he also stated that they were going to bring back the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) to the SLPP.
He stated that his task was to keep the SLPP party together as reconciliation was ongoing with members of the party that will enable the party function fully. He also stated that there were also signs in the PMDC that would warrant Charles Margai to return to the SLPP.
John Benjamin named the former PMDC Secretary General, Ansu Lansana who has returned to the SLPP and also the former PMDC strong man in Bo, Sidikie Janneh who has also returned to the SLPP saying “by the time we go to Bo for the 2011 convention, those close to him would have left him and returned to the SLPP leaving him (Charles Margai) with no option but to also return”. He also mentioned that lawyer Arrow Bockarie was almost nearing a return.
Reading a Press statement, the re-elected Secretary General of SLPP, Jacob Jusu Saffa said their National Party Conference was the final stage in the reorganization of their party which started since September 2008 with the creation of new executives at sectional, zonal, chiefdom, constituency, district and regional levels.
