The Inspector General of Police Brima Acha Kamara has said the leader of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Charles Francis Margai is a loser who has lost the presidential elections. The I.G was reacting to a question posed by Awoko at the weekly Police press briefing yesterday on whether the police leadership still takes in to consideration the threats of the PMDC leader, and whether they feel secure should the marriage of the PMDC and the APC prove fruitful.
IG Acha Kamara laughed out loud saying the PMDC leader has lost and even if his marriage with the APC proves fruitful he was still not the leader of the APC. The Inspector General was also concerned about the threats people make against others loosing their jobs. He said a democratic dispensation was different from a military rule for which the military rules by decree. He emphasized the difficulty a government will face in tampering with governance structures. The I.G disclosed how the government has expended a lot of resources in training the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police to undertake various managerial and strategic courses abroad. He asked “if we are all sacked who will fill our positions?” adding “after 26 years in management positions, or do they want to bring in a civilian to head the police?” The PMDC leader had publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Police. The police had in turn described him as somebody who wanted to create trouble and was looking out for an arrest so as to gain sympathy.
