Sierra Leone: The Chozen Generation Sierra Leone (CGSL) has called on Minister of Tourism and Culture Memunatu Pratt to make tourist sites across the country, especially on Sherbro and Bonthe Islands, more accessible to tourists and other visitors.

They made such a call as a recommendation to the minister after visiting both sites in their quest to showcase the natural beauty of Sierra Leone. In a notice put out by CGSL signed by National Coordinator Joel Abdulai Kallon, CGSL embarked on promoting domestic tourism since the start of 2021.

“Among other things, we visit touristic sites and showcase them through our various channels and platforms. Our tours of both islands have been a remarkable experience,” he said, adding that they enjoyed every single minute of their tours. “We think a lot more needs to be done to preserve the history of these places, develop the local infrastructure and maximise their tourism potentials,” he added.

And among the things they are calling on the minister to do is to have a concise and standardised document telling the history of these places, teach the history of locals and tour guides, and also ensure such places are accessible.

CGSL further recommended that the minister organises regular events to bring people to these places, have regular commercials on mainstream and social media, and finally provide regular electricity for these islands.
