James Weima and Lyoda Bangura have been the lucky winners of the Celtel Nelson Mandela promotions to witness the birthday celebration of the Freedom fighter of South Africa which will be held in London.
The raffle which was held at the company’s headquarters’ saw the two James Weima of Bonthe Island with 076- 665-379 emerging as the first winner while Mrs Lyoda Bangura of 8 Rock Lane Brookfieds with number 076- 643-421 became the second lucky winner.
The two will be leaving the shores of Freetown on Friday to attend the party as the guest of the network. Their tickets fare, lodging and pocket money will all be taken care of by Celtel.
The Sales Director Keith Tukei said “this is indeed another day in Celtel to pay tribute to a man of the continent. And this tribute is done by sending these people to be part of this party to be held in London on the 27th.”
Keith Tukei said that all expenses have been undertaken by the network as this is part of the ideology of making the lives of the people better.
He urged all subscribers of the network to be in touch as there is more in store for them as they will keep on unfolding goodies for the people “all in the bid of making life better.”
Mr Tukei disclosed that the draw which started in May saw the participation of a total of two thousand six hundred and eighteen subscribers (2,618).
Speaking about the mechanism of the draw Francis Minah of Celtel said that for one to have qualified for the draw, the subscriber had to just send a birthday message through SMS to 444 which is the cell number where Mandela was held.
Mr Minah revealed that with the exception of the two winners, two staff of Celtel, and famous Sierra Leonean musician Emmerson Bockarie will also be among the team with Emmerson joining other big artists from the world over to sing a birthday song for Mandela.
Speaking on the phone from Bonthe, James Weima said that he was happy and could not wait to go to London as this has never been part of his dream.
From her sick bed Lyoda Bangura shouted with joy when the news was broken to her and said “I thank Celtel for this opportunity now I know Celtel is really the Bomba.”
