Humanitarian organizations exist and work mainly with a view to addressing problems with the ultimate aim of improving the lives of vulnerable communities. In Kabala one such organization that is striving to make life better for people, is CAUSE Canada. This week the organization handed over solar lights to Educational institutions and libraries
The ceremony which took place at the Kabala Secondary school was graced by school children, NGOs, MDAs, Local Council and other dignitaries in Kabala. In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. J .D. Sesay, Principal of Kabala Secondary School welcomed all and thanked CAUSE Canada for all the support the Koinadugu District has been getting over the years. He particularly welcomed the founder of CAUSE Mr. Paul Carrick.
After the introduction of the dignitaries on the high table by the Program manager Augustine Zoker, the Country Director, Arthur Cummings gave a bird’s eye view of the numerous support his organization has given and continues to give to Kabala and Koinadugu district. These include: putting up school and community structures; Provide school fees, uniforms, shoes, and medical. He said with all that a gap existed which is the absence of light for studies. He mentioned that the organization had already distributed solar lights to strategic areas like schools and libraries. With the lights students can now study at night.
Beneficiaries of the solar lights are the DEC, WCSL, Baptist, the Kabala Secondary schools and the Library. In addition a total of 290 solar power lights were distributed to teachers in kabala.
The Founder of CAUSE Canada admonished the beneficiaries to take great care of the lights in order to get maximum benefit from them.
“ You are blessed with these lights… We want you to stay in school… Koinadugu is said to be the least developed, CAUSE is challenging that situation…” he concluded.
Appreciation and goodwill statements were made by the Head Girl of Kabala Secondary School Fatmata Shaw, and beneficiaries.
