Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In collaboration with the Sierra Leone Teqball Association and the Sierra Leone Handball Association, Camp Kenema is set to host the first-ever Teqball and Handball competitions among selected secondary schools in the Municipality of Kenema.
According to Coach Elongima Amara, Teqball and Handball are emerging sports in the country, and they are aiming to identify young talents who can excel in these sports. The competitions are scheduled to commence on October 16, 2023, with the grand finale for both Teqball and Handball to be held at the Ansarul Islamic Secondary School in Kenema on October 28, 2023.
Participating schools in the maiden edition of the competitions include Holy Rosary Secondary School, Holy Trinity Secondary School, Lukes Commercial Secondary School, Methodist Secondary School, St. James Secondary School, Islamic Secondary School, Lumbebu International Secondary School, Badrudeen Islamic Secondary School, Nyapui Secondary School, Henrietta Secondary School, and the Government Secondary School in Kenema.
The competitions will be played on a home and away basis, fostering sportsmanship and the promotion of these sports among school-going pupils. The preliminary rounds will be hosted at various school grounds, with the finals taking place at the Ansarul Islamic Secondary School, which boasts the necessary facilities for the event.
