The Sierra Leone National Business Plan Competition (Business Bomba III) which was launched for the third year on 8th February, instant, will close applications on Friday, 9th March this year.
Business Bomba is a fundamental part of the serious efforts the country and its people have been making to promote a better economy, a better future and a better life for everybody. It is also a business plan competition that encourages anyone with a good business idea to participate with a chance of winning one of five top prizes of Le 100million each.
According to a press release from the organization, the programme is not only a business competition where one can be one of twelve winners (prizes ranging from 5 top prizes of LE 100 million to LE 25 million), but it is also an opportunity to be mentored and coached in all aspects of business from marketing, business analysis, financial projections, risk management, the release noted.
“So, even if you are not one of the twelve winners, you will have the opportunity to avail of all of this business training and coaching which will help you get funding/loans or new partners to continue with your ambition. Many of last year’s competitors are now running good businesses and are very glad of the opportunity Business Bomba gave them,” the release notes.
Recently, a team from Business Bomba held workshops and clinics in Bo, Pujehun, Kenema, Kailahun, Makeni, Kono, Magburaka, Kambia, Kabala, Port Loko and Freetown aimed at assisting and guiding potential applicants on how to complete the application forms.
“The primary objectives of Business Bomba are to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and support entrepreneurs in the process of developing successful businesses,” the release assures. The programme, the release maintains, also helps to create an entrepreneurial culture in Sierra Leone and unlock the enormous potentials of people from all walks of life. This will in turn foster investment and growth in high potential business ideas.
Business Bomba has a strong track record of success and business people like Eva Roberts (BBC I winner), Gladys England (BBC I winner), Samuel Theophilus Powers and Hannah Harding (BBC II winners). These are all fine examples of how a small idea can be turned into a successful and financially viable business employing staff and adding value to their community.
