A 27 year-old dock labourer Japhet Mbahunmeh of Grass field Kissy and Foday Kamara a 26 year-old Building Contractor of 20 Williams street, Grassfield were yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Komba Kamanda at the Freetown Magistrate court No 2.
The two accused persons were docked on four counts of conspiracy to commit a felony. It is alleged that the accused on November 16 at 16 Grass field Kissy, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit burglary and larceny. In count two, three and four they were charged with Bulgary and Larceny, it was alleged that the accused on the said day and date, did broke and entered into the dwelling house of Allieu Conteh and stole valuable items valued at Le23m 787,000 Leones. No plea was taken.
Although the accused were not represented by counsel and are being prosecuted by woman police Sergeant F. Bangura.
Although the complainant was not present in court, the wife informed the court that he was involved in an accident on Monday night and was unable to proceed with the matter.
The Magistrate then asked the wife of the complainant what really happened and she told the court that they were attacked by thieves at night and their properties stolen which were later discovered at the residence of the accused. The accused explained that he just saw the items in his residence.
The magistrate then remanded both accused in prison custody till December 5 with the declaration that the festive season is approaching and any case brought before him with regards to Burglary and larceny will not be treated lightly. In another development, two accused, Alhaji Sheku and Mohamed Sesay, were also docked before the same Magistrate on two counts of conspiracy.
In count one, it was alleged that the accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony, while in count two, they were charged with Burglary and larceny. It is alleged that the accused on 20th November with intent to steal, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Johnny Paul Koroma and stole one TVS Motor bike with registration No. AHM 338 valued four million Leones, property of the said Johnny Paul Koroma.
The accused persons were then remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to December 5.
