BRU members complain their Chairman to Paramount Chief

Members of the Bike Riders Union in Daru have accused their Chairman, Ibrahim John Jaward, of using the organization’s funds without their consent. They made the accusation at a meeting held at the residence of the Paramount Chief of Jawei Chiefdom in Kailahun District P.C. Ngumbu Gla Kallon. One BRU member Ibrahim S. Kabba alleged that the Union Chairman had taken some amount from the organization’s savings account secretly to purchase a land for himself without approval of the general membership. BRU members at the meeting have distanced themselves from the action of their Chairman, describing it as misappropriation of their funds, and called on him to work with the members of the Union. Jaward said the contention between him and some members of the Union is how he could get back his money spent for the purchase of a land on behalf of the Union. He appealed to his colleagues to give him a loan of five million Leones to embark on self-help project that he can boast of when he leaves office as Chairman. Meanwhile, authorities in Jawi Chiefdom including the Paramount Chief, Section Chief Patrick Tanga, Speaker Faada Kallon and many others have intervened in the matter in order to maintain sanity not only within the BRU and its membership, but the entire chiefdom and district.
