Building Resources Across Communities (BRAC) has ended a four day malaria campaign workshop training in Kenema city.
Edison Konneh from Faama in the Nomo chiefdom in Kenema district who was representing the Faama Peripheral Health Unit (PHU) disclosed that the training as positive adding that they were trained in some of the things they have been doing in their various communities, which make mosquitoes cause malaria in their environment.
He pointed out that they have learnt the method of malaria prevention in their communities as they were taught how to clean their environment by not burning dustbins in their surroundings.
He said they should encourage under fives, pregnant and lactating mothers in their communities, to use bed nets at night.
Concluding, he appealed to all and sundry in the eastern region especially the pregnant women, lactating mothers and under fives to be aware of the malaria disease as it is one of the killer diseases in the world. He said anything that encourages malaria should be driven out of their communities, saying breeding places for mosquitoes should be destroyed.
