The Boxing, Umpire, Judges and referees course is in progress at the National Stadium with 18 participants taking part in the two weeks course
Speaking to Awoko Sports after the start of the course the Secretary General of the umpire, judges and referee association Victor Smith said that the course will go a long way as the participants are going to train in three different areas
It is left with participants to determine which area they will like to specialize in that will benefit them and the nation as a whole.
He stated that some of the participants that are outstanding during the course will have chances to officiate in the zone two competitions that will be hosted by Sierra Leone slated for this month at the national stadium in Freetown.
He went further that during the course everything topical will be dealt with so that when officiating there will be no problem for the participants.
He appealed to them to take the course very seriously. The technical director in the association Lumprie Sisay said that boxing is a professional sport so the officiating judges need to be intelligent and qualified so that when taking decision they will do the right thing so that the game will be developed
The Vice President of the association Murana Kamara in his own contribution said the course is very timely as many of our training and qualified umpires, judges and referees are reaching their retirement age
