Bottling Company trains Manual Distribution Center operators

The Sierra Leone Bottling Company has ended a two-day intensive training for Manual Distribution Center Operators (MDC’s) across the country at the Shangri-La Complex in Freetown.
Addressing participants during the training, the Regional Manager for Coca-Cola Sierra Leone & Liberia, Jose Gabriel Martin Vital, said the training is aimed at empowering manual distribution center operators with the necessary skills and tools for the market.
The Deputy Director Strategic Management at the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs Paul Fomba, said welfare services for women is a key priority to the Government of Sierra Leone and commended the Bottling Company for the bold step to empower their operators in the country for effective service delivery and livelihood support.
He said 60 percent of the bottling company distributors are women and that the Bottling Company is working towards promoting the socio-economic development of women entrepreneurs, as 51.5 percent of the population comprises of women.
He called on the Sierra Leone Bottling Company to continue their support towards women for the improvement of their livelihood.
One of the facilitators, Martha Cabasa of ECCBC AWAC HR Business Partners, spoke about the role of women in contributing to the success of Coca-Cola around the world, stating that female entrepreneurs form the bedrock of Coca-Cola business around the world.
Another facilitator, David Sturza, explained to participants that for the past three years they have been going around the world to train Coca-Cola manual distributors center operators, aimed at sharing experiences and learning basic things, so that they can apply it in their respective businesses for growth and expansion.
