Bonthe to host the next SLFA Extraordinary Congress

The acting president of the Sierra Leone Football Association J. S. Keifala has disclosed to delegates at the  Kenema  Extraordinary Congress that the next Extraordinary Congress of the association will be held  in Bonthe in December next year.                   
The decision for Bonthe to host the congress   is to give every region a chance to host it as they want to centralize the game and to develop football in every region.
During the two days Extraordinary  Congress many issues such as  relegation of teams from the Premier League  and the promotion of division two clubs to division one  were discussed.
Also a proposal to increase the delegates’ allowances during Congress was also brought up and it was decided that the SLAFA Executive will look into the matter before the next Congress.
On the second day of the Congress the auditing report was the major issue dealt with for several hours with delegates giving different views before they finally agreed to adopt the recommendations of the audit firm.
The recommendation stated that they noted the poor operational performance from 2002 to 2006.This is due to lack of adequate structure namely the employment of a qualified accountant. .

Also since 2008 Management maintained a fixed asset register in favour of the association. It is hoped that the association will continue to update this register.
King Walker and Associates, Chartered Accountants in their management letter for the period ended 31st December 2007 stated that’ The observation and implication that follow are related to the attitude of clubs who do not meet their financial obligations to the association.
They are of the opinion that maximum benefits would be derived if the recommendation is implemented in terms of clubs’ contribution‘s operation.’
According to management, mechanism is now put in place to existing club, and other member association to pay their contributions.
The recommendations also stated that to date. Management has taken steps to correct the statutory payments i.e. PAYE and NASSIT owed by the association.
The sum of Le 56 Million owed to NASSIT has been paid.
