The concluded All People Congress (APC) party primaries had left many with scores to settle.
Over the weekend, party stalwarts paid a courtesy visit to Kalangba village in the Gbendembu Ndowahun chiefdom, constituency 32 to reconcile with them.
Speaking at the well-attended peace and reconciliation stakeholders meeting, the APC aspirant for the position of Bombali district council chairman John Shangai Koroma, thanked his party members with whom he contested the party primaries, for their courage and call on them to embrace each other for peace and the development of their chiefdom.
John Shangai Koroma said there is no permanent enemy in politics, stating that as party members who want to ensure they seek and improve on the livelihood of people in the district, they should come together and work as a team in developing their people. Koroma said that they should come together and ensure that the fortunate aspirants win the coming election noting that all contestants are winners because winning for the party is a win for all.
The aspirant urged his colleagues to sensitize their constituents to work in peace and say no to outsiders who may want to separate them and also informed the gathering of their intention of visiting other chiefdoms in the district to preach peace, tolerance, unity, reconciliation and non-violence during the November elections.
The aspirant for the Member of Parliament in Constituency 32, Yeama D. Sesay, thanked the people of his constituency and the primary electoral colleagues for entrusting the party symbol to him to face the November polls.
He said power always come from God Almighty, so therefore those who were not fortunate to be awarded the symbol should work with whosoever God has chosen, in good faith.
Most participants at the meetings expressed their disappointment and frustration to the APC party but however measured that with the bold steps taken by their brothers and sons to reconcile them, they will forget about the past and look unto the future for the development of their chiefdom in particular.
