As a way of supporting vulnerable kids in Sierra Leone, Bollore Transport and Logistics has on Friday 29th January 2021 presented the sum of five thousand Euros to Don Bosco Fambul, together with 50 bags of rice and assorted items valued over Le 20 million.
The presentation which took place at Don Bosco Centre in During Town is a way of supporting children that have been abused in society, for them to rise up against all odds and overcome their challenges in life.
Addressing the children and the gathering as a whole, the Country Director of Bollore Fabjanko Kokan said “we are here today because of the love we have for you.” He recalled his visit to the Centre last December where he spoke to the Director of Don Bosco about the number of children in the centre, and the support the kids needed.
He explained that they were not there to only give them the support but also to show them love and affection despite their traumatic situations.
Mr. Kokan said children should be protected and cared for at all times, adding that child abusers must be prosecuted and their behaviour should not be tolerated in society. “We aren’t going to stop and we need to speak out, … so many children need our help.” He thanked Father Jorge and other staff at the Centre for their personal sacrifices in rendering help to the kids.
In his response, Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli of Don Bosco thanked Bollore for such the support noting that is not only about the livelihood which they provided, but the message they took to the children, which he said was very pertinent for their recovery.
He said his dream is to see no kids in the streets of Freetown as well as curtailing the abuse of young innocent girls in the country by wicked people.
Father Jorge said the centre currently has 180 children, adding that there are many other children in the streets who are being abused or maltreated on a daily basis.
Food and drinks were provided to the children at the end of the program, and the ceremony ended with cultural performances by the kids.
